Balkan Marriage Customs

Every nation, tradition, and religion has its own traditions and customs about what a marriage does seem like because it is such an important function. The Ottomans are no different, and when it comes to their wedding customs, they have some very intriguing ones. Marriages are typically seen as an occasion to celebrate adore, a few getting married, and starting over. They were a special occasion that brought collectively two households and an entire neighborhood in the past, but they were much more than that. They were a crucial part of our lives because of this.

Once the bride and groom were formally engaged, wedding procedures had begin. For the family people, they and their companions would spent decades sewing and embroidering attire, clothes, and towels. Additionally, they made unique adornments for the cathedral. The bride-to-be and her pals did visit every household whose users were expected to attend the bride ceremony during the majority of the intranasal invites.

There were certain prejudices that had to be followed when it was time for the bride to activate the vicar’s house. For instance, in some Bulgarian areas, it was customary for godparents to suspend a particular emblem at the couple’s home after carefully discarding it to protect the newlyweds from bad secret and evil influences. There may also be additional superstitions, depending on the area. For instance, in Montenegro, the brides were required to step over a doormat that had been covered in knife because this was supposed to guarantee that they would have kids. Additionally, it was common practice in Kosovo for the wedding to lick mister from her mother-in-law’s finger. This was intended to keep the two’s interactions calm and to guarantee their happiness and success.

There would be a lot of dance and crazy entertaining following the civil and religious ceremony. Individuals enjoyed drinking rakia to savor the happiness of marriage. And even though marriages these days are more about the couple than the celebration and eating, they are still a happy occasion for everyone who attends.
