    How to make Tamil Iyer Sambar at home

    Step 1

    Dry roast, coriander seeds, dry red chilly, urad dal, Chana dal, peppercorn, methi seeds, turmeric, cool down the spices, and grind it to make a fine powder.

    Step 2

    Cook the toor dal in a pressure cooker for 3-4 whistles till done.

    Step 3

    Heat oil, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, garlic & curry leaves.

    Step 4

    Add Onion, Tomato, Brinjal mix well, then add sambar powder mix well

    Step 5

    Add mashed dal and tamarind water mix gently.

    Step 6

    Give a boil check for the seasonings.
